  1. CarlaAZ says:

I purchased this unit based on the positive reviews I read online, trying to do my due diligence in research before buying what I hoped would be a long-term appliance. Either I got a dud, or everyone else who bought this model is clinically deaf. I have a juicer that isn’t as loud as this thing! My first and only load of laundry consisted of a single polar fleece blanket, as I didn’t want to load the washer too full for its first try. As put off as I was by how loud it was on the pre-wash cycle, I was actually drawn back upstairs by the awful banging noise mid-cycle. I saw the entire unit rocking back and forth!! And this wasn’t even a full load of laundry! As I waited for the load to finish, I had to crank up the television that I was watching ON A DIFFERENT FLOOR from the W/D, because the noise level was ridiculous. After the deafening buzzer sounded (I don’t think my smoke detector is that loud), I went upstairs to find that the entire unit had MOVED nearly 3 inches forward. I can’t close the door to the laundry closet, because the water pan is now partially in the hallway. I’m going to switch to a Kenmore.* UPDATE * (5/12/2010) In all fairness, I have to amend my review a bit. Sears just showed up an hour ago to haul the unit away, and it turns out that not one, but TWO crews prior to this one failed to remove the supporting bolts from the underside of the washer, which are supposed to be in place only for moving. When I told these guys that I had washed a blanket, they couldn’t believe that the unit ran at all with the bolts in place. They said that was what made all the noise and caused the unit to move forward. I’m now giving this unit a second try. Although it’s much quieter this time around, overall, the buzzers are still obnoxiously loud. Seriously, folks — I read the warnings about the buzzer volume in other people’s reviews, and bought the unit anyway. My thought was, “How bad could it be?” Let me tell you: IT’S. BAD. I counted 5 full seconds in duration, and it will scare the bejesus out of you if you’re not expecting it to go off. It actually is about the decibel level of a smoke detector, with a lower pitch. If this is going on the top floor of a townhouse/condo, you’ll hear it wherever you are, regardless of whether it’s the washer or the dryer that’s in use. And if you’ve got hardwood floors, don’t plan on watching TV or talking on the phone without serious background noise. I’m still thinking of getting a different unit.

  2. Vin, IL says:

We had a frigidaire gas stack washer/dryer before this one and it lasted 10 years. We bought this cheap one a month ago and you can tell by its construction that its not as solid as the last one and it vibrates more on spin cycles. However, it washes well and we have had no problems. We have had it a month and with a toddler and 3 month old we have used it a lot.

  3. CB says:

A decent stackable at a decent price. It gets the job done, though the washer and dryer buzzer are a little loud. Overall it’s a good machine that I haven’t had any mechanical issues with so far.

  4. Steff says:

I like this unit, it is efficient and does a great job, especially with my athletic clothes and towels. I just wish it came with a fabric softener dispenser! The dryer buzzer is quite loud, but overall, a great product.

  5. Jon says:

I live in a condo building in Chicago in which every unit has this model. In 4.5 years 2 have caught on fire. I cleaned the unit once a year and would consider myself a 2 load per week user. Today my clothes smelled like a camp fire.

  6. Tess, FL says:

I USE THIS UNIT EVERY DAY. I RUN A BEAUTY SHOP AND THERE ARE LOTS OF TOWELS.IT DOES A GREAT JOB OF CLEANING AND DRYING.I WAS NERVOUS ABOUT BUYING A FRIGIDAIRE.BUT I AM VERY HAPPY WITH IT.

  7. Sheila says:

I bought this unit for a rental property and while it has only been a few weeks, so far my tenant has not had any complaints. I bought this because it is the least expensive gas unit I could find. I also have the next model up in another unit and I have not had any problems with that one either. That one is about a year old now.

  8. MJ says:

The drying cycle takes about 90 minutes for a long that would normally take 60 minutes.

  9. Jackie says:

easy to use, noisy and shakes
