Thanks to krisdavetba who wrote a previous review, my new laundry is working beautifully. I would have expected the Sears people to remove the drum braces when it was delivered, since they did all the rest of the unpacking prep…but they didn’t. I’m happy I remembered reading krisdavetba’s comments after my new washer started jumping all over the place. We took off the front bottom panel and removed the shipping braces and the styrofoam packing and now it spins like a dream. I love my new machine so far and sure hope it lasts as long as others have written. The dryer works beautifully, too. Yes, the buzzer is a bit loud, but nothing I can’t handle.
I bought this unit a month ago to replace an old washer/dryer combo that came with my condo. At first I was afraid this unit would be too big (the washer capacity is twice the size of my old one – old one was maybe 1.5 cubic feet), but it fit in the space pretty well. Yes, the buzzer is very loud, as others have said, but if I’m prepared for it going off it’s not as bad (still should be quieter, though). I thought the dryer had an issue with long drying time but it turned out my dryer vent needed to be cleaned (a bird ended up getting stuck in the vent). Now, the clothes get dried in 2-3 hours. And this is with twice as many clothes in a load as my old washer, due to the bigger washer capacity (I now do 2 loads a week, as opposed to 4). So I’m happy with my purchase.
I love this washer dryer combo machine! Bought it back in August when my 20 year old ThinTwin gave out on me. I bought this based on the reviews here at sears.com. I agree with most other reviews that the ONLY complaint I have about it thusfar is the buzzer. I live in an apartment and I’m sure my neighbors can hear it, but I’ve not yet had a complaint. It does make me jump from 2 rooms away every time it goes off and I have this unnatural fear of not wanting to be near the machine when it’s going in case that darn buzzer goes off. My clothes always come out clean and looking great, the dryer seems to take only 30-40 minutes to get even towels dry, I’m really impressed. The washer and dryer drum have both been big enough to fit my king sized down comforter with no issues! Twice as much space as my old stackable and a great way to save some money in these times by using FAR less water then I could ever imagine!
Great Machine! I recommend it highly! Super quiet front load washer Very fast spin, which dries the clothes out. Dries clothes quickly. We had a stackable Kenmore for about 15 years. It was durable, but noisey and the clothes took way too long to dry. This machine is such an amazing step up. The day my Kenmore broke down, this machine was on sale for between 8 and 9 hundred. I grabbed it. It is the same machine as the comparable model sold by other stores, but Sears has a better price. Other reviewers warned about the loud buzzer, but it is a non-issue, really. I waited several months to write this because I wanted to really know the machine. It is truly amazing. You really can’t hear the washer at all, and the dryer is quiet too. You can trust this purchase. I am very pleased with it. I am happy that I got it at such a great price.
I love this machine now that I have it working properly. I had it installed but the installation team did not install it correctly! Make sure the shipping braces on the bottom of the drum are taken off or it will jump all around every time it goes to spin water out. Also make sure it is plugged in alll the way they almost burnt my house down! The clothes come out cleaner than my old conventional machine and drier right out of the wash the spin cycle is GREAT! I am very happy with my choice.
Like most of the reviews, the washer & dryer buzzer is SUPER LOUD even I get startled when it buzzes. The clothes are pretty wet after the spin cycle so when you put the clothes in the dryer, it takes 2.5 to 3 dryer cycles before clothes are completely dry. Also, the dryer doesn’t get really hot because when I open in the middle of the drying cycle, the clothes are warm, not hot to the touch. It’s not energy efficient if I have to do more than 1 dry cycle every load (if it’s a small load). Maybe my units are lemons…but I’m calling Frigidaire to have my units checked out (6 mos. old) but I’m pretty bummed about the quality of this front loader; I expected more versus top loader.
I bought this based on reviews. As everyone else said, the buzzer is extremely loud, so I called Sears and they sent someone out to disable it. There’s actually two separate ones. I’ve only had this unit for 2 weeks and I just made an appointment to get the washer fixed. Like lpetric3 said, mine makes a terrible thumping and clanging sound no matter how little I put in the washer. Two things and it still makes the noise. I do have to say, it does get my clothes very clean, but the spin cycle doesn’t get nearly enough water out(probably because something is broken), so I need to put my clothes through the 80min timed cycle 3 times just to get them dry. I haven’t had any trouble with the dryer other than the drying time, but I can tell it’s getting hot enough, the clothes are just too wet when I put them in. It’s so much quieter than the washer. I’ll write another review once the washer is fixed. If it still makes the thumping sound, I’m returning it and getting something else.
i have had this unit 3months and I love it. Yes, the buzzer is loud but ……the washer is very quiet and cleans super well! The dryer also is very quiet, sometimes I hear a light thump but is not annoying. I would reccomend this to a friend.
I’ve had this unit for a month or so now and it’s really great. Yes yes…the buzzer is so freakin’ loud it makes my ears bleed but it’s a small price to pay for such a powerful compact laundry center. In fact, the fast spin cycle works so well I sometimes think I forgot to turn the washer on. The clothes are almost dry after the extraction process! As mentioned in one of the other reviews, I did notice the dryer is not as quiet as I might like, especially when paired with the almost silent washer but overall I am thrilled! If anybody figures out a way to disable the buzzer, let me know.
We just purchased this machine a few days ago and after doing 5 loads of laundry I can say this is truly a remarkable unit! True, the buzzer is LOUD, but the washer is extremely quiet–have to look to see if it is still washing! The lint catcher (dryer) needs to be tighter to avoid lint collecting around the outside. Would advice careful measurement if this is to be placed in a closet with bi-fold doors. We measured carefully but did not take into consideration the depth of the front loading door. My tenant is extremely happy!
I am very happy with the over all performance of this product, both very quite washer does a great job at getting everything clean & the dryer works so well that I have to put it on a lower setting to get even the towels dry loving that. but the washer doesn’t have a lint filter ? this I don’t understand I guess they must want the dryer lint filter to catch it all, not a very good idea seeing I have to vacuum my dryer door to get all the lint from the inside of the door, & around the gasket. I never thought that I would ever have to vacuum my dryer! Also they did send me a shoe dryer rack( after I had to call a lot & point out that the ad says it comes with one) well yes they sent me 2 of them no directions for them do I use one put them together to work in the dryer? I have tried every which way possible to make them or it work in the dryer, well there is no way this will work in that dryer why would they say it comes with it & then send me something that isn’t going to work in their product not one but 2 of them & I can’t get no one to follow up with this matter with me .UNBELIEVABLE SITUATION…VACUUMING YOUR DRYER ??
I was extremely disappointed with this unit. When it was delivered, the washer was broken. The spin cycle didn’t pull out all the water from the clothes. It also made a horrible, extremely loud sound when in the spin cycle. The dryer didn’t get hot. It took literally 1-2 hrs for clothes, towels and sheets to dry. I also experienced extremely bad customer service reps. They really need more training.
I bought this unit based on the reviews. Washer does a fine job and is quiet. The loud thumping from the dryer is annoying for me since I live in a condo with the unit close to my living area. Literally sounds like a shoe rolling around in it. Had a service call, worked fine for 5 minutes while they tested it, then when I did the next load, it was thumping again. Got a replacement — Same loud thumping. I will have this unit replaced with a stack unit, separate washer/dryer even though it requires me to have an electrician install a 110 outlet. Not pleased and not recommended
I really like the unit. I replaced a top loading Maytag all-in-one which we had for 10 years. I was skeptical about the front loader as I am particular about laundry. But it works great, and the savings on water and detergent are wonderful. (I suggest using about 1/2 the recommended high energy detergent). The dryer however leaves a bit to be desired. I have to use the longest dry cycle and even then sometimes the clothes are not dry. Also there is often lint stuck around the bottom of the door and around the edges of the lint screen (i clean it every time of course).
I see that another reviewer also replaced a Neptune stackable with this product–I only wish I had gotten 6 years out of mine! I’ve had this unit for about 2 months now, and so far so good! It’s even quieter than the Neptune, and somehow the see-thru door provides sudsy reassurance that your clothes are actually getting cleaned. On the negative side, the slide-out tray into which you pour detergent and bleach is a little cheap and clumsy. I too didn’t get my dryer rack–still have to chase that down. And, not to be left out, one thing I liked about how quiet my last front-loading washer was, was that I could put a load in the washer before going to bed at night, and then throw it in the dryer while I showered in the morning. I used to do this more often than I realized. Well, I can assure you that, even from the next room behind two closed doors, the buzzer will not only wake you from a sound sleep, but will strike cold terror in your heart! It still makes me jump during the daytime, but I’m getting used to it. I’d be more forgiving if it just went off after the dry cycle, instead of both. Overall a great purchase though–so much that I made a point to log in and leave this review–I didn’t get an e-mail asking me to.
I’ve had this washer & dryer for about 4 months now, and I agree with all the previous reviewers. It washes well. I’ve always had to go to laundromat and noticed a HUGE difference – this washes for about 45 minutes and dries for over an hour, much unlike laundromats. But the thing that bothers me the most is the extremely loud buzzing noise. It makes that loud buzz (about 20 seconds) when it finishes the wash cycle. Then once you put your clothes in the dryer, it makes that buzzing noise (again, 20 seconds) every time it passes a cycle!?!? Does that happen to anyone else? So, when I’m doing one load of laundry, I can hear up to 5 buzzes. I also live in a condo complex, so I pray that my neighbors don’t hear me. I still get scared every time I hear that buzzer!
I have had this washer/dryer now for a bit well over 6 months or so and I love it to death. It washes really good and drys quickly. The dryer rack that comes with this item (make sure that you get it or make a request for it because I had a bit of a hard time in getting it since it was supose to come with washer/dryer and it didn’t) also comes in handy for either delicate items or for your sneakers. The “only” draw back is the {”lOuD”} bUzZeReD!!! It can not be ajusted not only is it loud, but long sounding. I have came to get used to it by now, but at the begining it would scare me since I was not expecting it to be that out of control…lol Over all this is a well worth item to purchase just try to look out for it when it goes on sale. I bought it for about 800 bucks at the time with free installation. Oh, and don’t forget to buy the power cord… it does not tell you, but it does not come with one and its only about 20 bucks or so!
I really love my washer, it seems to do the job and do it very quietly, except for the buzzer, i read the other reviews and i was aware of it, but figured it cant be that bad, well it is, but hey i will survive. I live in a condo, so i do hope my neighbors cant hear the buzzer. Moving on.. it fit nicely in my unit, i love the front loader, i wasnt sure if i would like it. I give it 5 stars on everything, except durability, cause i just got it, so its hard to say. The unit didnt have the dryer rack, but Sears took care of me and got one right out. Definately give this unit a look, well worth the price and best of all its energy star compliant. I was amazed on how much little water it uses and the clothes still come out clean.
I bought this in August 2007. This stack is 1/2 the price of my 6 year old $2000 Maytag Neptune stack that it replaced however the construction (frame) is lighter/thinner metal. It weighs less… Rotation during washer spin cycle makes entire unit appear to struggle and shudder even though machine is new and on level concrete slab surface in my laundry room. I love it for less water it uses and for its windowed washer door. It is efficient and the dryer is quiet. Not sure why washer is or appears to strain so much during spin cycle.
I purchased this washer/dryer unit a few months ago and I love it. Reading the reviews were so helpful in my decision to buy. It washes your clothes very well. I like the front load feature. It washes so quietly , sometimes I forget Im doing laundry.! The only thing I would change would be the dryer buzzer. Its very loud. I think the manufacturer needs to make it possible to lower the tone of the buzzer . But overall this is a great product and Im so glad I purchased it.
I LOVE my new machine. I was afraid that saving space with a stackable meant comprimising on quality. I was wrong, this unit does a fantastic job. Other than when it’s on the high speed spin, the washer is practically silent. (The spin is not at all loud it’s just the remainder of the time the washer is freakishly quiet). The dryer is fast and all the settings are intuitive. This is the best washer/dryer of any kind that I have ever owned.
I bought this unit to replace a 25 year old stack unit which my landlord allowed me to use in my apartment. The three biggest reasons I bought this unit is; 1. I did not have space for a seperate washer and dryer unit, 2. It is a front load washer, and 3. This unit claimed to have a quiet wash cycle. I found all of those to be true after owning and using this unit. I’m happy to see that I’m spending about 30% less on my water bill!. My only gripe is that darned buzzer at the end of the cycle which can’t be shut off by a button or switch. It’s just about loud enough to wake the dead. The dryer also does a good job, and has several drying options to choose from. Overall an excellent product, a minus on the features, because of the annoying buzzer which can’t be shut off.
When I bought this machine I did a alot of reasearch, and the dryer and washer were 23 Lbs heavier if sold not as a stackable..with the exact same specifications, the machine arrived and it was installed, this machine is super quiet…I barely forgot it was on except for the buzzer that is really obnious, but then again it should be that irritating, becuase its telling you to get your stuff and move it to the dryer ot its done in the dryer. this machine does perfectly and I am more then impressed with it. I am very satisfied and its worth every penny. I totally recommend it to anyone.
This unit is AWESOME! I love it. We read the reviews before buying it which really helped. The only thing that I dont like is that the buzzer is too loud. Other than that I think it works great and saves alot of room. If you are looking for a stackable unit this is the best choice.
I have had this machine now for a couple of months and I have to honeslty say that its worth every penny. At first I got scared when I first went to put my clothes in thinking that the washer was small, but it really isn’t. It washes really good and it dryes with in a reasonable amount of time. The only thing that I did not like, but its tolerable is the buzzered! Its soooo…. loud and can not be adjusted. Also make sure that you get your dry rack that come with it for I had alot of issues in trying to obtain it since when the washer/dryer was delivered they did not have the rack that went with it. The rack is for the purpose of delicate items or like what I use it for is to dry my shoes.
I chose this stack unit because of limited space at our cottage. I didn’t have any idea it would be the best washer & dryer I’ve ever owned! I really love the front load washer. It’s amazing how much cleaner the clothes are and how quickly they dry. I can also tell a difference in our water and electric bill. Our Boxer, Boogie, loves to sit and watch the clothes wash, he’s totalled mesmerized! I’m in the process of picking out a new washer & dryer for our home, I need the washer and dryer to sit side by side there, but I definitely want the energy saver front load washer and dryer. Can’t wait to see how much we save on our utilities at home!
I was hesitant to get this but after seeing/hearing so many positive comments, I took a chance. I’ve had it for a couple months now and couldn’t be happier! It is extremely efficient yet the cleanliness of the clothes is wonderful (I had heard that sometimes “high efficiency” = less clean). The seal and door lock feature on the washer work well – no leaking or water seeping out (that is another complaint I’d heard about front loading washers in general). The no wrinkle feature on the dryer is great, as are the dryness settings. As other reviewers have mentioned, the buzzer is loud. That is the only thing I would change if I could but I’m getting accustomed to it. The product really is outstanding! I highly recommend it.
This is a very quiet washer and dryer combo. I live in a condo, and the washer is outside in a closet, so noise isn’t really an issue. The buzzer is very loud, but I like that. It buzzes at the end of the drying AND washing cycles. The door to the washer remains locked until a few minutes after the machine stops spinning, and then the buzzer sounds. The dryer has a wrinkle preventing feature, tumbling the clothes without heat for the last ten minutes or so. The buzzer sounds every few minutes until you get the clothes out. Again, I don’t mind with the machine outside, but some people who have their machines in the hall or in their kitchen or bathroom might. As far as how clean it gets clothes, it gets them very clean with very little water, although the normal wash cycle seems a little long. I’m not sure how many times it empties and refills per wash cycle either. The dryer does a great job of drying, even on one of the lower heat settings. This might be due to the dryer being twice the capacity of the washer. It is even possible to dry two loads of wash in one drying cycle.
Great product! love the compax style and water saving front end washer.
I have a 50’s ranch house with limited space and this unit has been great. It has a ton of settings. Extra rinse cycle is very nice. Consumes only a tiny amount of water. Best of all it drys lightning fast without even using the high temp setting. The spin cycle has been a bit troublesome for me. It spins at very high speeds and tends to shake everything in my house. I have tried multiple times to level it out but it doens’t seem to help too much. I’ve even tried putting in fewer clothes but still have the same problem. I think part of it is due to the construction of my house and the rest just due to the fact that the washer does such a great job at spinning the clothes. I have been able to get around the shaking by using the extra care setting on the washer. I’ve had my unit a little less than a year.
I am very happy with this product. It is well built and fits into small spaces but the inside is very good size. It does use much less water and the clothes seem to come out much cleaner.
After much consideration and research we found that this model would best suit our needs… After using this machine for several weeks now I am very pleased to say it has exceeded my expectations for this product and would recommend it to anyone looking for a very efficient affordable washer and dryer.
I purchased this unit in Jan. of 07. I wanted to have more space in my laundry area since I live in a mobile home. I was more than pleased with the appearance of this machine and the features it has. I bought the soap that the manufacturer recommends and it works great and I use a lot less which saves me money. There are two people in the home and I do a load of laundry about every other day. I was amazed at how quiet the machine is. It does a fantastic job of cleaning and the only thing I do to any stain is pretreat. The dryer doesn’t take any time at all to dry the clothes because when they come out of the washer the water has been spun out of them so well that they are just damp. I also use less water than I did with my 2004 washer. The buzzer is the only thing that is loud about this machine but I don’t mind it because it keeps me informed on when the machine is done even if I’m out on the porch. My husband even remarked how much quieter this unit is than our other machine. I would recommend this product very highly. I am very satisfied with this machine.
We just purchased this machine a couple of months ago. It is ideal for small spaces, and very effiecient. The only complaint I have is that we cannot adjust the buzzer – it is very loud. However, this IS the best stackable we’ve ever had!!
We bought this washer after having read the reviews and researched information on this site. We have had the washer for one month by now, and it is excellent. It’s quiet (aside the the buzzer, which indeed is too loud – hence the four stars), uses a fraction of the water that our old top-loader did, has a nice design and has great capacity for a compact washer/dryer solution. If you need to dry a lot of clothes etc., the dryer has less capacity and drying power than a regular stand alone model. We had problems with the installation done by Sears – the machine is heavy, so it’s tricky for just one installation guy to manage on his own. Also, the machine apparently has four bolts holding the drum during transportation – not two, as some other washers have from what we understand. All bolts must be removed at time of installation otherwise, the machine will sound like an earthquake hit your laundry room when you wash your first load. Make sure to remind the installation people (just in case) and double check they stabilize the unit on the floor before leaving.
And I’ve done 3 loads. It is super quiet. Clothes came out exceptionally clean. Spin cycle on fast setting didn’t shake or rattle. But it did sound like a turbine, engine , when I was up very close to it. It amused me as it sounded like my plane when on takeoff roll. But a very distant sound. I was like My GOSH I wonder what the RPM’s are on this thing? The bleach dispenser didn’t dispense, I’ll see what’s up with that. After all these reviews about the buzzer from HEL_, I really braced myself for it ie. stop your heart, wake the dead yadda yadda. I laughed when the buzzers went off, wasn’t loud at all, maybe it’s been adjusted since the reviews. I only gave a 4 rating because I just got this item and didn’t get a dryer rack and bleach dispenser isn’t working properly. But seems very well made, love the front load option.
We bought this laundry center based on reviews and efficiency but the dryer has broken twice within 9 months. First it was the switch, now its the motor. If you must have it, I strongly recommend getting the extended warranty. The washer is fine so far. Good when it works. Better to have a broken dryer than a broken washer I suppose. Oh yeah, true the buzzer is really loud – I assume its to hear it from the basement but who really puts a stackable unit in the basement?
Absolutely a very outstanding machine had for about 3 months a godsend, dont overload the machine because it uses less water than traditional machines but overall a A
We bought this machine at Sears because it had decent reviews in several places of the internet. We did not really believe that the buzzer noise would be an issue like some reported. The machine itself is pretty good, washes are ok and the drying is also ok but the buzzer is just way too loud. The noise is not taken seriously until you own it. Frigidaire does not even bother to offer some sort of design adjustment, recall or whatever. The customer service had a ‘too bad’ attitude when we inquired about a repair or something to disable the buzzer. So if your machine is going to be inside your living space – you need to consider the noise of the buzzer which is very loud and long enough to make you hate it.
I rec’d my laundry center on 5/19/08 and it works like a charm. I must admit I had a difficult time ordering this product initially. I placed my order and it got canceled 1 day prior to delivery with out my knowledge. I was told to keep calling back to place another order. I did I mention that I was charged and had to call 2 to get the charges reverse. After much hassel, I finally got the center and its fine. Like others have said the buzzers are very loud and annoying and they cannot be adjusted; however the center washes really well and drys quickly. I enjoy doing laundry!
Love the washer /dryer combo It is really as quiet at it says The dryer is quick and efficient ONE PROBLEM!! If you do not have Sears install it be careful to remove ALL the packing parts. There are two very large and heave metal rods that are not part of the machine; by not removing them you will find the unit bang uncontrollablly and loud, very, very loud. Once Sears came to check out the problem, the serviceman asked if Sears had installed the unit, when I said, “no”, he immediately opened the front and proceeded to take out the metal packing rods (he obviously had done this before!)
if the washer works as well as the dryer i will be a very happy woman. so far the door does not lock properly and the lock-lite will not come on. the service man is coming and hopefully this problem will be solved. i have been going to the laudromat and as i said the dryer works beautifully… my only complaint besides that is all the phone numbers i acquired to finally reach the service department. i will tell you, this is one lovely looking piece of equipment. will write back.
Since day one the Fabric softener dispenser hasn’t worked proberly. Bought it in June 2008 and it is now Oct 2008 and the dispenser isn’t working at all. I have cleaned it like the manual says and still will not work. If you don’t mind using softener sheets then this isn’t a problem. Trying to get issues resolved at this time so far not happening. This is the only issues I have with this until everything else works great.
I would not recomand this washer dryer combo. I bought it in May of 2007. I just has a technician at my house to repair it and they quoted me almost $1,000 to fix!! The product did not last long at all!
I brought this washer/dryer a month ago online on sale. I needed a stacked unit and this unit fits the bill. My only issue with this unit is thE washer door is low to the floor and u aren’t able to turn off the buzzer. The dryer works great! My clothes are always dry before buzzer. The washer is extremely quiet.
I’m in love with this washer dryer combo machine. The washer is incredibly quiet. It cleans very well. The drier buzzer is loud, but not so loud that it causes a problem. The clothes always come out dry, but not boiling hot like some other driers. It uses hardly any water, which is nice. I’d recommend this machine to anyone looking for an energy star washer and drier.
We own a very small home and a small closet for our laundry area. I have been through several units in the past 10 years. I was very frustrated and considered knocking down a wall and taking a bathroom to make a laundry unit large enough for a side by side washer dryer. Well our last unit caught on fire two days after Thanksgiving. Putting a new stackable unit an immediate priority. I am pleased with the performance of the washer and dryer. The buzzer is loud and in our living space. I like it because I am reminded to get my laundry into the dryer. My clothes are always fresh, and I never get behind now. It is a dream. The washer it self is very quite while washing. It is only the buzzer at the end of the cycle that is loud. I do wish it had more options such as steam cycle, etc. So far no problems to speak of but if we do I will post that as well.
I had this machine installed on the 3rd floor of my town house (that’s where the laundry closet is). When it went to spin cycle the machine started to make huge noise, started jumping. It moved 3 feet all 4 ways and turned at least 30 dgrees. Tech came tried to fix it and told me that I had to put similar size items in pairs. 2/4/6 pairs of jeans, 2/4/6 bath towel.s I was not suppose to wash socks with towels. I live alone and only have one each of most stuff. OK I gave the machine another chance and tried to wash even number of similar size items. IT DID NOT WORK!!!! The tech told me the machine is made for concrete floor and not for the wood floor like I have on the 3rd floor. Well, no one told me that when I was shopping for it!! I now have top load stacked washer/dryer and it works fine. I was dissatisfied with the front loder I didn’t even wanna give one star.
I just bought this last March 08 at Sears. Now I couldn’t use the dryer anymore. It Broke and not tumble. I called SEARS and they have to order 6 parts to replace and took 6 days the parts came.I was scheduled on a repair again next Tues day . I am so disapointed. All I can say is, don’t buy this.
