We bought this washer and dryer combo 10 years ago. We had to replace the water pump just this year. That is the only thing ever done to it. I have a family of 6 and wash clothes only in this unit. I will always buy Kenmore products. No one I know has had this kind of luck with a washing machine. I definitely would purchase and recomend this product to anyone.
I’ve had this washer for less than two years, and it now needs its 4th major repair. It flooded my house twice, causing thousands of dollars of damage, and it currently won’t drain water from the wash basket. The size is great for small spaces, but it leaves you doing twice the amount of laundry because of the small load size. Although in its defense, I’ve never had a problem with the dryer. If you do get this model, make sure you get a protection agreement to cover all of the repairs/parts you’ll need!
We purchased this unit for a rental property in 11-07. It started having problems after1 year. We called sears out to repair the unit. The parts cost $380 and the labor was $450 for a broken water pump and a thing that centers the drum. We thought we bought a reputable name and wouldn’t have to deal with servicing for another 7 yrs. We could of bought top of the line front loaders in another brand for all the $ we spent on this junk. Do yourself a favor and buy something else….
While the capacity of this machine is limited, it was the perfect fit for my small space within my condo. This machine is quiet and does a nice job of cleaning. The dryer is quite powerful and works faster than the full sized dryer that I have in my other home. I would recommend this product to people with limited space. I love it!
My husband and I purchased this product in replacement for the one that our Landlord had purchesed in the 80′s. This machine leaked just like the old one. We were not satisfied at all with our purchase. We eneded up calling and getting a front load with Sears and we love that product. Overall for this product I would say…. don’t waist your time or money.
I purchased this product because of the Sears reputation. The dryer stopped working before the installers were in their truck. Sears took almost a week to get another wash/dryer to me. I called to complain that the dryer didn’t work less than 6 months after I purchased it. It takes 100 minutes on high to dry six towels. Sears refused to come out to look at it until I cleaned my dryer vents. I told them I had them dleaned just six months before and I live alone. They told me it didn’t matter, policy is policy. I HATE THIS PRODUCT. If it didn’t cost so much I would dump it in a second. DO NOT BUY THIS – Sears customer service is poor and the product is even worse.
My combo is 16 months old. It has had 7 service calls. Same thing. The springs. They replace them, or put them back where they are supposed to be. It lasts no more then 3 mos and the drum falls again. I am very carefull and only wash two items at a time. All the down time. And all the time spent waiting for the service person…………..grrr Now My extended warrenty is due to expire in a short time, and then what? I am going to try to sell it!
This washer machine combo came with my new condo. It was brand new when I got it. When I first looked at the wash tub it thought some one was playing a joke on me because it is so small. You can fit a maximum of 3 pairs of jeans in it. I cannot not wash any blankets or anything in there. I have to do laundry constantly to keep up. Its loud. The dryer is pretty good, drys clothes fast. But the main thing I hate about it is I had it for 7 months and I had to have sears come out to repair it 3 times. The wash tub is held on by shocks the contanstly come apart. So the sears guy has to take the washer machine apart the screw them back in. The first time it happened I was without a washer for 3 weeks. Ever since then I was very carefull not to unbalance the load. Guess what? the same thing happened. THis time it took like three weeks to get it fixed. It is broken right now. same issue. I haven’t done any laundry in 3 weeks. the guy came to day to look at it, he says he has to order new parts so it will be another ten days before they can try to fix it again. If you are not a fan of this kind of stuff then don’t buy this washer machine. I have been so stressed out lately. I have not gone to the gym, I started eating a lot ofjunk food. My condo Is a mess. Beleive it not, it is because I am so stresses out over this washer machine. The people at sears are helping me out to get a new washer machine (different model of course) I hear that kenmore puts there name on different manufactures stuff. I dont know who made this garbage for them. To bad i can’t give this washer machine 0 stars
Please note… this model is the 240 VOLT model. IT WILL WASH AND DRY AT THE SAME TIME!!!! The added power of 240V also heats the dryer very hot… clothes dry quickly. Just got this for my Mom… haven’t had it long enough for anything to go wrong yet. We did get the extended warranty to make the total warranty coverage 4 years. A nice feature of the Sears warranty is the yearly in home tune-up included with the warranty. Only wish would be for a larger capacity wash tub… our old washer that this unit replaced was the same width… 24″, but had a larger tub. All in all… we are happy with this washer/dryer combo.
less than three years old,,,$200.00 to repair dryer, now the transmission is out,,,$600.00 to repair,,MAYTAG time
We bought this unit less then a year ago because we had no other choice but to get a washer dryer space saver stacked unit. I am tryuly disappointed in this unit, we have had at least 4 service calls on it and in addition it has also been replaced once. We continued to have the same problems with the new one as the one that was replaced. We don’t put much in it, we can only wash about 5 peices of clothes at a time and the springs still keep breaking. We are in the process of getting a new machine because once again this one is broken. I would not recommend buying this machine unless you truly have no other choice, but be prepared for it to be working only half the time. Good Luck!
Just bought this for our new small (1,200sqft) retail space. Great investment, easy to fit in, use and it was installed in minutes by thorough and courteous Sears installers. Saves on the monthly expenses of laudering towels, aprons, etc. And we have a lot of laudry due to juice spillage, etc. Perfect!
I’ve had this unit for 2 years, and it works great! No problems at all. True, it won’t wash and dry at the same time, and the dryer takes a while, but it’s worth it to be able to do laundry in my own apartment instead of having to trek to the laundromat. For a small unit, I was impressed with the size of the wash load it can handle, and it gets the clothes very clean. No complaints—I wouldn’t expect more from a compact unit.
This is the worst washer dryer ever. I would rate it zero if posible. Listen to the noise complaints. I figured that I would get a good one but NO. The repair man came out 3 times in two years after the warrenty. The noise is terrible. In the first 30 days it started up so we replaced it. If you buy this moddel and it acts up GET A REFUND.
I found this product to be unreliable. In 2006 the original one purchased made a squealing noise when in the wash cycle. Sears did a in store exchange since it was within 90 days of purchase. The second laundry center (same model) that Sears delivered lasted 9 months. The washer wouldn’t move and made a buzzing noise and wouldn’t pump any of the water out. A tech had to come out and rewire the timer connection. Keep your warranty updated on this item or it could be a costly mistake like I made. Sears guarantees a year warranty but they merged both washers together into one warranty. Kenmore is a household name and I am highly disappointed this product didn’t last for years without problems.
this stackable washer and dryer unit works great in small spaces, it is easily hidden, and makes apartment living a lot easier because you don’t have trek down flights of stairs to get to the laundry facilities.
this is a very dependable combo set. saves space, energy, time. a good buy if you’re looking for a new set
THIS REALLY IS GREAT FOR APARTMENTS, FITS IN SMALL SPACES AND PERFECT FOR SINGLE PEOPLE..
This product worked very well for just over the three year extended warranty I purchased when the product was new. Suddenly, the dryer started to screech—softly at first, but now it is so LOUD that my husband has said to throw it out and buy a new one! It’s 3 and 1/2 years old, and the noise it makes is so terrible that we can barely stand to dry a load of laundry. It works well, but the screeching/screaming sound is driving us crazy. We have oiled it with WD-40 which helped some, but after a couple of weeks, the screech returned with a vengeance!
Pros: Looks great. Fits in small spaces. Comes in 110 Volt – no need to rewire. Cleans clothes really well. Capacity of both washer and dryer were more than enough for two people. Cons: Dryer took much longer than it should have to dry clothes – some people said it was because it was a 110 volt unit. I would give up and hang my clothes up damp. In 110 Volt, only the Washer OR Dryer works at a time. You can’t run them simultaneously – which I didn’t know until I had installed it. Very inconvenient and inefficient. It takes forever to do clothes – you just want to give up and go to a laundromat! (Couldn’t there just be two 110 plugs, one for each unit??) After only about 5 months the washer started making louder noises. I sold that condo, so I don’t know how long it lasted. Washer seemed to get off balance easily in the spin cycles. Washer would walk itself around. I had no choice but to get this unit when the 25 year old previous GE unit died in my condo. But I did like the simultaneous washer/dryer running feature of the old unit – it is definitely worth it to pay more for that one feature. If I had it to do over again, I would not buy this unit. I even started doing the math: Ok, I paid $1,000. (with taxes & delivery), which would have paid for how many laundromat visits?
I purchased my laundry center at the outlet store here in Denver and I’m very pleased with it so far. Even though they’re small capacity machines, the performance is great! It’s 240v so I can run both machines at the same time. It has settings to adjust the tempurature of the wash water and also for the dryer. I’ve never had any problem with this Kenmore appliance. So happy to have found a reliable brand!
I have bought six of these in the last three years for apartments and they have been used by many people and still work fine. I have had no trouble. I highly recommend this stackable unit. Jan
Purchased the stack washer dryer as a second laundry unit for my kitchen, have not used the primary one since the purchase. Unit is so convenient, washes and drys perfect. The purchase of this unit has taken the chore out of my laundry. Was afraid it would make a lot of noise, not so! Love every feature!
Within 30 days of purchase, and after only using it about 10 times, I noticed a large puddle of water under my machine. The basin of the washing machine had a leak in it and was dripping onto my floor and caused water damage to my home. This machine is very poor quality and not worth your money. Sears was good about taking it back for a full refund, but I will never by a Kenmore product again.
Have had washer/dryer combo for 8 months. Repairman came out twice. Lint-trap complaint: Lint trap in need of improvement. More lint on clothes than in trap. Needs to be deeper. Repairman suggested using dryer sheets/customers allergic to perfume. Tub deep enough in washer to allow for good-sized load, but screw(s)/bolt(s)? fell off, causing awful noises while in motion. Dryer also extra-capacity sized, but again bolt(s) fell off. Loud dryer noises triggered call for repair. Repairman felt it was possibly due to overload, which wasn’t the case. Washer does good job of cleaning. Dryer dries in less time due to its capacity.
Although this product is limited in the size of the laundry load, it has performed well for the most part. It did near repairs to the latch that is inside the washer when you close the lid, which in turn, signals the washer to progress to the next cycle. A pretty costly house call and repair for a small plastic piece that took the repairman 5 minutes to fix. This part should be made sturdies.
This product looks great for small spaces or allows you to use your space more creatively. Does the same as larger ones. Needs a more modern look.
This is the third one I have owned in the past 30+ years. It is great for singles like I am now, small spaces like a motorhome or small businesses like the beauty salon I owned in the past. Very Very durable.
I like my laundry center but I find it a bit noisy. The dryer had to be repaired. The timer would not turn off. I had to maually turn off the dryer until it was repaired. If you have limited space, this is a good buy
